The winter holydays have in the area the same importance as they do in the whole country. Specific events that we recommend you to attend are: “the milking of the sheep”- a sort of contest in which the one whose sheep have the biggest production, wins (this takes place in the first Sunday of May). Another important holyday for the villagers is “Nedeia” on the 8 and 9 of September: when people eat and drink and when the evening falls they gather in front of the church and have traditional popular dances. In Eibenthal you can take part in “Farsang”- the equivalent of “Nedeia” in Dubova. The week before the Easter at the “Holyday of May” takes place the women’s ball. Each woman is “taken under a tree” by her partner, the ritual implying the purification for the whole year.
